The eye movements in this kriya are similar to REM sleep and those used in EDMR therapy; they can help clear old patterns, emotions, beliefs, stress, and traumas, any patterns that limit or contract us. The optic nerve, which is strongly exercised in these movements, is connected to the entire head and is also said to control thought forms.

When we clear the patterns that no longer serve us in this way, we can enter the state of Pratyahar Shuniya, a condition that is both thoughtless and withdrawn from external stimuli. This is when the light of our soul can shine through without obstruction.
