Nine Spiritual Treasures

The name of this kriya, Nao Niddh, means Nine Treasures. It is said that when a practitioner holds down the pinky finger of the right hand and keeps the rest of the fingers wide, the nine spiritual treasures come to them. In traditional Sikhism these treasures include:

  • Bairaag (Detachment): Detachment from worldly possessions and attachments.
  • Bharosa (Faith): Deep faith in and dependence on the Divine.
  • Santokh (Contentment): A state of being satisfied and not desiring more.
  • Sahaj (Balance): Equanimity and equilibrium of the mind, maintaining composure in all situations.
  • Anand (Joy): Perpetual delight and permanent happiness.
  • Bismaad (Wonder): Ecstasy, joy combined with wonderment, forgetting the self.
  • Nadar (Glance of Grace): Recognizing the Divine as the source of all blessings and understanding that our efforts are nothing without Divine grace.
  • Hukam (Divine Order): Acceptance and surrender to the will of the Divine.
  • Leenta (Devotion): Absolute attachment and absorption in the Divine.
