Simran, translated literally as “remembrance,” is the continuous experience of the meditative mind, characterized by a longingly creative feeling in which life is experienced as a spiritual flow. It involves the practice of remembering and repeating the name of God, often through chanting or silent repetition. In simran, the meditative mind flows in remembrance of Oneness through the sound current. In Sikhism, simran is a fundamental practice for cultivating a continuous awareness of the divine presence.
