Meditation to Tranquilize the Mind
February 28, 1979
This meditation uses the “Mudra Which Pleases the Mind,” a gift from the Buddha himself. This short meditation can effectively quiet your mind and promote inner peace. By focusing on the mudra and mantra, you gain greater control over your thoughts and emotions. Despite its simplicity, this meditation can be a powerful tool for managing stress and anxiety.

Posture & Mudra:
Sit in Easy Pose (Sukhasana). Maintain a straight spine. Form the mudra in this way:
Hold this mudra about 4 inches away from your body, with your middle fingers pointing forward.
Bring your hands together in front of your chest, at the level of your Heart Center. Keep your elbows lifted almost at the height of your hands.
Bend the index fingers of each hand towards your palms and gently press their second joints together.
Bring the tips of your thumbs together.
Straighten your middle fingers and touch their tips together. Curl your remaining fingers (ring and pinky) into your palms.
Breath & Mantra:
Choose a mantra that resonates with you, such as “peace,” “love,” or “HAR.”
- Inhale deeply and completely, then hold your breath while silently repeating your chosen mantra 11-21 times.
- Exhale slowly and completely, then hold your breath out while repeating the mantra the same number of times.
Eyes/Drishti:
Focus your eyes on the Tip of the Nose (Lotus Point).
Duration:
Continue for 3 minutes.
