Meditation for Blessings
December 4, 1993
If you can summon the attitude to bless, the divine immediately and spontaneously blesses you. The greatest thing you can do is bless yourself. This meditation can give you the lived experience of what blessing is, so that you can be noble and receive the blessings that come back to you when you bless.

Posture & Mudra:
Sit in Easy Pose (Sukhasana) with a straight spine. Raise your right upper arm parallel to the ground and bring your right forearm up and out slightly with the palm facing down, as if you are blessing over the head of someone who has bowed down. Place your left hand on your Heart Center (Anahata Chakra).
Eyes/Drishti:
Closed and focused on the Navel Point (Manipura Chakra),
Mindful Attention:
- Concentrate and bless the universe, Mother Earth, and all humanity both good and bad. Feel noble, blissful, bountiful, and blessed. Be very angelic and caring in your experience of blessing for 18 minutes.
- Bless yourself for 2 minutes.
Duration:
Continue for 20 minutes total.
Ending:
- Inhale deeply and suspend your breath for 15 seconds. As you hold, concentrate on blessing. Exhale.
- Inhale deeply and suspend your breath for 15 seconds. As you hold, concentrate and feel the blessing circulating within you. Exhale.
- Inhale deeply and suspend your breath for 30 seconds. As you hold, bless all; bless yourself, bless your surroundings, bless those higher and lower than you. Bless your enemies, bless your friends, bless your love and your hatred, bless without exception. Exhale and relax.
