Kriya for Tranquility and Peace

This kriya is said to connect the subtle body with the pranic body. It also adjusts the nervous system to bring you into tranquility and peace. It is suggested to eat a banana before practicing this set.

1. Chanting & Pranayama

Posture & Mudra: Sit in Easy Pose (Sukhasana) with a straight spine and your shoulders rolled down and back. Bring your three middle fingers against the corresponding fingers of the opposite hand, and clasp your palms together by crossing the thumbs and little fingers. Hold this mudra against your solar plexus, just below the Heart Center (Anahata Chakra), with the middle finger pointing straight forward. Keep the extended fingers separated and the space between them equal throughout.

Mantra: Chant “ONG NAMO GURU DEV NAMO” as if others are listening to you.

Suggested Recording: Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo by Nirinjan Kaur from the album Tantric Meditations.

Eyes/Drishti: Focused on the Tip of the Nose (Lotus Point) and also looking at the tips of the extended fingers.

Duration: Continue for 31 minutes.

Ending: 

  • Breathe Breath of Fire powerfully through your mouth, or Cannon Breath, for 1 minute.
  • Breathe Breath of Fire through your nose powerfully from your Navel Center (Manipura Chakra) for 30 seconds.Immediately begin Exercise 2.

2. Laughing

Posture & Mudra: Sit in Easy Pose (Sukhasana) and bring your arms out to the sides and up to 60 degrees above parallel with the palms facing up.

Movement & Breath: Laugh as loud and hard as you can.

Duration: Continue for 1 minute.

Ending: 

  1. Hold the posture and inhale deeply. Suspend your breath for 15 seconds, spread the fingers wide, and squeeze every muscle of your body very tightly. Exhale.
  2. Repeat this sequence two more times.
  3. Relax.
