Lock of Devotion
May 19, 1986
Our chakras can become interlocked both internally and with the chakras of others. When this happens we get stuck. For example, when the Third Chakra (Manipura Chakra) gets interlocked with the Fifth Chakra (Vishuddha Chakra), it does not produce musical talent, but a tendency to hurt people with words. When two people have some of their chakras interlocked, they may find themselves in patterns of interaction they feel powerless to change. Whenever a single chakra is interlocked without the Sixth Chakra (Ajna Chakra), it is said to cause problems, because intuition is limited. This meditation is said to interlock our entire system with our Sixth Chakra (Ajna Chakra), so that we can see the pros and cons of everything, read between the lines, and get our information from the infinite.
This practice is also said to lock five parts of the hemispheres of the brain, all 72,000 nerve channels, and the entire lower triangle. These locks together with the chakra locks develop the power to not need to speak; we only need to relax and everything will start to happen where and as we’d like. It helps us purify and prepare our bodies, minds, and souls for the coming times, when we will have to work effectively and efficiently to advance peace on Earth.
When you can hold the Root Lock (Mulabandha) and the hand squeeze strongly and perfectly, as you sing, whisper, or hold your breath, one minute of each part of this practice will be quite sufficient. If the mounds of the hands hurt in the mudra, it may signal some disease taking hold in the body; it is said that if you can hold everything precisely for three minutes, this disease will dissipate.

Posture & Mudra:
Sit in Easy Pose (Sukhasana) and interlace your hands in front of the solar plexus so that your fingers press firmly on the backs of the hands with the fingernails touching the skin and the mounds of the fingers of both hands pressed together. Squeeze the hands so strongly that your fingers turn white and both hands shake. Apply a firm Root Lock (Mulabandha) and hold it throughout.
Mantra & Breath:
- Sing Flowers in the Rain from your Navel Point (Manipura Chakra) as loudly as you can, as you hold the squeeze and the Root Lock (Mulabandha) for 2 minutes.
- Whisper Flowers in the Rain using the tip of your tongue on the roof of the mouth, as you hold the squeeze and the Root Lock (Mulabandha) for 1 ½ minutes.
- Hold your breath for the duration of one verse of the song, as you hold the squeeze and the Root Lock (Mulabandha) for approximately 1 minute.
- Loudly sing Flowers in the Rain from your Navel Point (Manipura Chakra) as you hold the squeeze and the Root Lock (Mulabandha) for 30 seconds.
Suggested recording: Flowers in the Rain by Guru Dass Singh from the album Flowers in the Rain.
Eyes/Drishti:
Closed and looking out through the Third Eye Point (Ajna Chakra).
Mindful Attention:
Concentrate on the courage of the saints and Gurus that is also inside of you. Imagine yourself on Baisaki Day giving your head to the Guru; see Guru Gobind Singh coming out of the tent with a sword in his hand asking for your head. Visualize yourself as Guru Teg Bahadur preparing to give his life as a sacrifice for the Hindus, and feel the strength this gives you. Become the Guru and personify his sacrifice.
Duration:
Continue for approximately 5 minutes total.
