Chattar Chaya Kriya
May 24, 1976
This meditation induces deep relaxation and a feeling of happiness and peace. It is said to make the face appear more youthful and radiant, extending the glow of innocence and fostering longevity. It is best practiced at the end of the day to release tension and prepare for restful sleep. Avoid doing this kriya if you still have tasks to complete or somewhere to go, as it may make you too relaxed or drowsy.

Posture & Mudra:
Sit in Easy Pose (Sukhasana). Bring the heels or bases of your hands together, curl your left hand into a fist, and cover the left fingers with the right fingers, placing your thumbs side by side on your left index finger. Hold this mudra 8–10 inches in front of your mouth, with your elbows resting comfortably by your sides.
Movement & Breath:
Inhale through the nose. Exhale through the mouth, directing the outgoing breath through the opening formed by the middle of the thumbs. Ensure a full, complete exhalation.
Eyes/Drishti:
Closed.
Duration:
Continue for as long as desired, or until you fall asleep.
Ending:
Inhale deeply. Exhale completely; gently release the mudra and relax your hands.
