Hakini Mudra

Mudra for Concentration

Effects of Hakini Mudra:

Hakini Mudra is named for the Hindu Goddess and Yogini Hakini. She is pictured with six heads on a two-petaled lotus flower, symbolic of the brain’s two hemispheres. Hakini presides in the Third Eye (Ajna Chakra) and represents imagination, clarity, and intuition.

In Sanskrit, Hakini means power or rule, and this mudra gives us the power to control our minds. It can help to balance, harmonize and channelize prana, thereby impacting the mind, and it stimulates the Third Eye (Ajna Chakra) or center of inner knowing. Hakini Mudra is also calming and centering, because bringing all of the fingertips together helps to balance the tattvas or elements in the body. In this way it can contribute to overall balance and harmony.

How to do Hakini Mudra:

  1. Bring the tips of your opposite fingers together, leaving space between the palms.
  2. Press your fingers together lightly, so you can feel it, but the fingertips do not whiten. In some kriyas, more pressure may be applied to the mudra as indicated.
